phising is a tactic used by thieves to get important information from you by imposing themselves as a company you deal with already.
for example, a phisher may send you an e-mail looking like it came from your bank account. this e-mail may ask you to verify your account information. in reality, none of this information is going to where you think, instead it’s being sent to someone that may use this information against you. this is why identity theft is becoming more prominent in the digital age.
be aware, even if an e-mail looks like it has been sent from a business you work with that it’s exceptionally easy to fake where an e-mail has been sent from.
